About This Beer

The brewers aged this one in oak barrels with hundreds of Costa Rican pineapples for a bright, fruity flavor that will complement a bit of spice and balance a savory mouthful with a little sweet.

Tasting Notes

The fine folks at pFriem recommend pairing Las Piñas with Mexican Mole and chocolate desserts. And you should do that. It’s freaking delicious. The mildly tart base and subtle wild notes will cut through rich sauces and tender cuts of meat, refreshing the taste buds with every sip.

AMAZING. the first time a pineapple beer had tasted like fresh pineapple. light vanilla and toasty oak/marshmallow underlies the fresh, sweet tart pineapple and brettanomyces funk. only regret not getting more!

Incredible offering from pFriem. Just enough pina, perfectly sour. Best one yet. Can't wait to visit Hood River!

Just a hint of pineapple and not as sour as expected. Slightly sweet and light.

didn’t pack enough punch for me, tamed by oak/vanilla notes and missing that pineapple highlight. i wanted to feel the pineapple bite me in the face and evolve into something elegant

This isn't my favourite. it's sour, loaded with pineapple, super bright... not my thing. These guys, however, brew some awesome pilsners.

Super effervescent. Bright aroma of pineapple along with light lemon. Huge juicy pineapple up front in taste. Then the barrel and yeast take over mid palate for a light, funky sourness. Finishes a touch dry. Crisp and very refreshing.

Sour overpowers the hint of pineapple at the end. Not terrible, but mostly just really sour

Mad underrated deliciousness, sweet crisp pineapple, and like a pineapple candy not cocktail headachey pineapple, never thought I would have liked this as much as I do. Mild funk, medium acidity, oaky notes. Nice nice.

Pineapple was subtle, just the right amount. Loved the oakey funk and it wasn't too tart. 🍻

Funky nose, pineapple comes through nicely but it doesn’t taste acidic from it. So goooooood.

Not at all what I expected. I didn't hate it, but the sourness really dominates here...hard to taste the pineapple or anything else. Still, I happily drank it!

Not exactly what i was expecting. The description of this one had me thinking it was drowning in pineapple, however; the biggest flavor im sensing is of the barrels itself with a whisper of pineapple as the aftertaste kicks in. Refreshing? Yes! Slightly underwhelming? Also yes unfortunately

I'm probably in the minority here, but this needed more pineapple as the oakiness was dominant here.

Perhaps the barrel-aging mellowed the body too much, as it came across more like a mildly spritzy pineapple nectar as opposed to the bright, “sharp” tartness of freshly cut/squeezed fruit. Complex, with notes of grape, buttery oak, and a hint of coconut.
