A Note on This Beer
Beer nerds are still waiting for an official hop holiday, but that doesn’t stop us from celebrating the short few weeks each fall when Fresh Hop beers are in season.
What makes these brews so vivid? In order to be called a Fresh Hop, the cones need to be transported into the brew kettle within 48 hours of picking! It doesn’t get any fresher than that unless you try to eat the hops raw — don’t try it, trust me, it’s not a good move.
Today’s Live Resin Hazy IPA from New Image takes the Fresh Hop concept to even more potent heights with a new technique. First, they feature fresh Strata Hops in the boil — this will get the brew to sticky icky dankness.
Then, they extract the terpenes (concentrated essential oils) from that same batch of hops — that same day — and use them in the dry hop.
Live Resin? This baby is so full of dank passion fruit and ruby red grapefruit, and so kushy, they could have named it ‘live hash!’ If you’re feeling it, this is the only time of the year that you’ll find anything like this!
