About This Beer
The brewers at Fair State teamed up with their friends at Bottle Logic for this one. First, they aged a rich and thick Imperial Stout in bourbon barrels for a full 12 months, then they loaded it with dessert-inspired deliciousness: toasted coconut, caramelized cacao nibs, and luscious vanilla beans. It’s like a chocolate-dipped macaroon, except it comes with a 13% ABV!
Tasting Notes
According to the brewers, their goal with this one was to “create a sumptuous tapestry of luxurious flavors so decadent that we could declare with a straight face that this was our finest Stout, stuffed with our… second finest Stout.” We think they nailed it.

Smooth and very sweet. Maybe too sweet, very forward with the vanilla and bourbon. It’s a dessert beer.

Sweet, smooth, coffee, vanilla, heavy, good to sip slowly as the 13 abv will hit you and fills you up.

Very well done. Vanilla and coconut come through and balance out the chocolate and bourbon nicely. Not overly viscous. On the sweet side in a good way.

First brew from FSBC and it is f!_#*?| delightful in every way. Smooth coconut, marshmallow (though no marshmallow was added), and chocolate deliciousness. The bourbon barrel flavors wrap everything up like a Doritos taco shell.

Jet black pour has no head. Big, sweet roasted malt aroma hints at really good chocolate, Tahitian vanilla beans and freshly harvested Hawaiian coconut flesh. Flavor follows nose. Interestingly, there is not a hint of lobster or any form of tacos? What I do know is this is a seriously intense brew that brings a ton of flavor right from the first sip. Thick, rich and sticky on the palate. Though it’s aged in bourbon barrels, their essence is present, but not in the forefront. Like most beers of this style, the layers of flavor begin to emerge as the brew warms. Sip this one slowly, as the many nuances are there, if you are patient…

Bourbon, milk choc, & vanilla in aroma w/coconut in background. Vanilla frosting in taste followed by choc & coconut. Bourbon is present but takes back seat.
