About This Beer
The Elder Pine crew began this intricate sipper with a 24-hour boil using a triple mash of 100% floor-malted English Maris Otter. After fermentation, they aged it for 14 months in freshly-emptied rye whiskey barrels that previously held port and Sauternes.
Tasting Notes
The long boil deepened the malt’s caramel tones, creating an ideal canvas for the brewery’s unique collection of casks. As it warms, intricate layers of dark fruits, vanilla oak, and chocolate-covered toffee snake through each silky sip followed by hints of vinous tannins. Fig-like nuances run smoothly from the first taste to the lingering, rye-spiced finish.

Sweet burnt caramel develops into candied fig, grape jelly, port wine, whiskey and chocolate. Finish is Rye with
a touch of booze but not what you would expect from a 15% ABV.

Beautiful malt showcase. One of the best barleywines I’ve ever drank.
