A Note on This Beer
Last year when they brought home an eye-popping 19 medals from the New Zealand Brewer’s Guild Awards, 8 Wired Brewing proved why they’re considered the greatest brewery in New Zealand. With over 200 barrels and 7 foudres, they also claim the Southern Hemisphere’s largest barrel program, a focus they show off in their oak aged Lord of the Atlas Barleywine.
This 12% ABV brew takes luxuriant ingredients from all over the world -- Australian Hops, New Zealand Malt, English Yeast, and French Oak -- and brings them together into a smooth American-Style Barleywine.
As you pour the dusky red brew, it releases aromas of thick toffee, molasses and brown sugar. Bitter orange zest and tobacco notes unfurl on the palate, bringing everything into bittersweet balance. Toasted walnuts and honey entangle with woody pine sap as it slides toward a decadent, brandied, boozy finish.
Lord of Atlas beckons Barleywine fans to embark across the world for a taste of its oaky elixir. Made by one of New Zealand’s finest, it tastes like the kind of treasure you’ll only find after a long, epic journey. Set sail for boozy travels ahead.
