A Note on This Beer
HOLY HOPS, IT’S FINALLY HERE!
For months I’ve been teetering on the edge of my seat, just waiting for the day I could share a brew from Pittsburgh’s Dancing Gnome. And today is the DAY!
If you’ve heard of this crew, it might be because USA Today named them one of the Top 3 New Breweries in the Country. Or, maybe you saw the Hop Culture article that called them a “hidden gem.”
Or, perhaps you read PorchDrinking’s feature where the author showed up at Dancing Gnome’s taproom at 5:30 AM for a new release, and discovered there was already a line.
But, unless you’ve been to Pittsburgh in the last few years, you’ve almost certainly never had a taste from this little 10-barrel brew crew. Their beer can only be found in a handful of local bars, and directly from the taproom. That’s it.
Until today. Because we finally managed to wrestle a tiny stash of Lustra Pale Ale away from the thirsty locals!
That PorchDrinking feature I mentioned? This is the beer they woke up at dawn for. And honestly, I understand why.
Burly additions of Citra and Amarillo Hops mean this hazy Pale packs all the flavor of an IPA, but with a light, smooth, crushable body. It’s delightfully tropical, with flavors of mango and pineapple mingling with tangy tangerine and a touch of apricot. And, with the mellow ABV, you can bask in this hoppy goodness all day long!
Next year, when Dancing Gnome opens their new, larger brewery, we might be able to share more of their beers. For now, our 30 case stash of Lustra is all there is.
