A Note on This Beer
Denver’s Black Project ranks among the Top 50 Breweries in the World on Untappd for one very delicious reason: while other breweries spread their efforts across beer styles, these brewers focus exclusively on super fruity Wild Ales.
These guys are so skilled at capturing locally-sourced yeast and brewing with real fruit, that we almost want to call their coolship a spaceship!
But even though they’ve got a higher brewery rating than the Wild Ale masters Jester King and The Lost Abbey, you won’t see Black Project beers outside of Denver.
In fact, these GABF Medalists are so focused on precision and quality that they normally don’t even let their fruity creations leave the taproom.
Unless, of course, you’ve got top-level clearance with Tavour!
Today’s MAGIC LANTERN: Passionfruit – Peach – Apricot is an example of Black Project’s expertise. The first batch sold out in just two days and was packed with 4 lbs per gallon of passionfruit, loads of peaches and apricots, and a sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt.
Today’s newest batch is even juicer, with 6 lbs per gallon of tropical fruit. The Wild Ale mastery is surreal here, and fans think so too — they give this one a 4.25 UT rating!
A rating that makes total sense once you get a sip of this otherworldly, wild juice. Black Project managed to pack so much fruity flavor and tanginess into an easygoing 5.5% ABV that they’ve clearly outdone even themselves this time.
