A Note on This Beer
The experts at Craft Beer & Brewing scored this bottle 99/100, calling it “an extremely well executed Fruited Sour.” On BeerAdvocate, it’s rated 98/100, placing it among the top 40 Wild Ales on the planet. And the last time we got a stash — YEARS ago! — you all rated it 4.31 on Tavour.
Now, after waiting way too long, it’s finally back!
To create this incredible Ale, the team at The Rare Barrel started with a Golden Sour Ale fermented with a mixed culture of wild yeasts. After extended aging in oak barrels, they conditioned the brew on piles of ripe, golden apricots.
Every sip overflows with bright, tangy nuances and flavors of stone fruit preserves. Rich, jammy notes add a touch of sweetness, balancing the pucker of the body, while hints of oak, lemongrass, and peach add subtle complexity. And it all leads to a crisp, dry finish.
If you’re a fan of Fruited Sour Ales, this is a must-try bottle. We suggest sipping it on a sunny afternoon with a good friend and a charcuterie plate. It might just be the highlight of your spring!
