About This Beer
The legendary brewers at Rhinegeist took inspiration from a chimerical creature of the old world when they blended Dark Ales aged in bourbon, rye, and brandy barrels with maple and peanut butter to create a complex, rich, and limited sipper.

excellent stout as a base. didn’t get any decent adjuncts. I’d never pin maple or pb to it if I didn’t know. even then it was hard to find.

500ml bottle from Tavour. Dark brown pour with a minimal beige head. Aroma is boozy, roasty notes, light peanut butter. Taste is sweet, roasty, boozy and the maple makes it's presence known. A bit on the sweet side, maple and peanut butter seem to be more in conflict than union.

Nice maple and peanut notes. Barrel-aging is well done.

The peanut butter faded with aging, aside from a slight nutty aromatic. Still, there is a complex and masterful layering of notes of semi-sweet chocolate, maple sugar, rye spice, and the warmth of bourbon/brandy. A rare and majestic beast indeed!
