A Note on This Beer

Drinking today’s Mariage du Rouge Wild Ale has me feeling like Doc Brown jumping out of the DeLorean, shouting, “Great Scott!”

It’s the artistic undertaking of Minnesota’s Wild Mind Artisan Ales — these creative Wild Ale brewers reinvent the classic style into a tart, funk-heavy Barrel-Aged Beer-Wine hybrid. This is your chance to taste the future of Sour brewing, with no DeLorean or whacky scientists required!

You can forget hoverboards or saving the McFly family name, too — jump into this time-traveling pour and experience the next generation of Sour Ale mastery for yourself!

To craft the 4.10 UT-rated brew, Wild Mind tapped into their inner Doc Brown and made Mariage du Rouge with some masterful style.

Starting with a mature, foeder-aged spontaneous ale, the brewers added whole Tempranillo grapes to the fermentation tanks. Using the full grapes provides Mariage du Rouge with complex tannins and an elevated, wine-like structure.

Each tart-n-fruity sip sparkles with an effervescent mouthfeel that balances the acidity of the mild tannic notes in the base beer. Finish the bottle and that sneaky 8.8% ABV will leave you thinking, “this is my density… oops! I mean, destiny!”

So if you want to get a preview of the future of craft, grab a bottle of Mariage du Rouge quick. I have a feeling this stuff will be gone faster than a time-traveling DeLorean going 88 miles an hour, leaving a fiery pair of tire tracks in its wake.

Starting with mature foeder aged spontaneous ale , they then added whole tempranillo grapes (never been a fan) to the fermentation tanks... this one has many complex tannins to it that gives it a wine-heavy structure... each sip is plenty tart and fruity which I like, but this one is also largely dry... it's good but not great lol 3/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐
