A Note on This Beer

Pronounced me-yes-toe, "mesto" means “city” in Czech. But, is that the only reason why the Big Apple brewers at Torch & Crown — one of Hop Culture’s 10 Best New Breweries of 2020 — named their new Pilsner accordingly?

Not quite! Today’s Mesto is a celebration of urban life, where new ideas and imagination join forces. Brewed in the heart of NYC, it’s a Bohemian Pils with 100% Noble Hops for enticing notes of fresh florals and crackly bread crust. Undertones of lemongrass and peppery spice weave in quietly on each sip.

To really refine the brew’s flavorful nuances and crisp body, the Torch & Crown crew cold conditioned it for an extensive period of time. Take a swig, and it starts smooth and easy-drinking, finishing dryly and leaving the palate primed for more.

solid pilsner but wouldn't order again.

There’s a distinct note of citrus, as if someone chucked in a few baskets of Lemon Drop hops with the noble stuff. Thankfully it’s not too showy or loud, and it’s not bad in the summer heat.

beer flavored la croix. it’s like they wanted to make a dry hopped Pilsner but didn’t exactly realize that they needed to add any grain..and then halfway into dry hopping they forgot that isn’t how Czech pilsners are supposed to be so they pulled the hops out.

For a Pilsner, it’s quite tart, if that’s even the right word. It’s got the classic Czech flavor and then suddenly goes almost sour. It’s worth a try, and is unique, but I’m not sure it’s one I’d return to.

This is an utterly perfect beer, floral, light in body, and light sweet. Smooth with a nice finish. I'd bye this Several times over.
