A Note on This Beer
Each winter, as the Pacific Ocean batters the Oregon Coast, the renowned brewers at Pelican batten down the hatches to prepare for the much-anticipated annual release of Mother of All Storms. One sip, and you’ll see why it causes such a frenzy in the craft scene!
This Barleywine starts its life in the pitch-black abyss of bourbon barrels. For a year, it works into the liquor-laced cracks of oak until it soaks up the essence of the caramel and vanilla-tinged spirit.
Then, just at the peak of its powers, the brewers unleash its howling flavor upon the #BiL faithful.
Expect whiskey-kissed malts to flow through each chewy sip with notes of honey-drizzled dates and raisins. As the dark fruit fades, the barrel remains — a bold bite of bourbon washes away gooey molasses and toffee sweetness with the satisfaction of a Kentucky nightcap.
And that buzzy 14% ABV is like a strong wind — you can’t see it, but you’ll feel the effects!
But with fewer than 60 bottles in our stash, this tempest will be gone before you know it. If you want to cozy up with Mother of All Storms while the winds howl outside, you’ll have to be quick.
This 2024 release is too new for ratings, but last year’s vintage earned a staggering 4.33 on Untappd!
