A Note on This Beer

My wife and I have an ongoing debate about Neapolitan ice cream.

I’m convinced the best part is the chocolate, while she insists it’s the strawberry. Then, when all that’s left is vanilla, we both do our due diligence to scoop every last delicious drop from the carton. It’s the perfect dessert for two!

The creative masterminds at Tacoma’s Sig Brewing also have a love affair with this tasty trifecta. They modeled their newest Fruited Sour, Neapolitan Drip, after this classic dessert.

To craft it, they used real strawberries and heaping scoops of actual chocolate and vanilla ice cream! Then, they added just a touch of lactose in the boil for an authentic milkshake experience.

Each thick, luscious sip surrounds the palate in tangy strawberries and drippy ice cream — like a three-layer waffle cone of rich, chocolate gelato, sweet vanilla soft serve, and strawberry sorbet!

Whether you’re Team Chocolate or Team Strawberry, we all scream for boozy ice cream! But, keep in mind — Sig only brewed 70 cases total, and their creative libations never leave the Evergreen State. Once this treat is gone, you won’t be able to ask for second helpings!

Way too sour than I hoped, for a beer with actual ice cream. I was expecting a slight creamy feeling, and as someone who mixes those three flavors outta boredom. Didn't at least taste any close to what I'd like, not even enough sweetness to properly balance it out.

this was honestly terribly. way too sour and not enough sweet or creamy texture; especially since it’s supposed to have actual ice cream mixed in. I was very disappointed.

five stars because this brew is true to the name! you get strawberry followed by vanilla and a chocolate finish it is a sour you get a slight kick of extra tartness at then end.

I know this is a sour beer, but it was just a little too sour for my liking for the flavor that it is. I’m a sour nut, but after trying it I realized the Neapolitan flavors (in my opinion) fare better as a stout or creamier/thicker beer. The flavors were all there, it just didn’t pair well with the tartness.
