A Note on This Beer
When it comes to extracting layers of luxurious tang from rarely-seen Riwaka Hops, the dexterous team at Anchorage knows how to get’ er done.
Why are we kooky for Riwaka? Well, it’s got twice the oil-content of its parent variety, Saaz. That means twice the oozy, juicy goodness!
And today’s dangerously luscious 10% ABV Need Direction bursts with all the notes of plump passionfruit and kumquats this limited hop variety is known for.
Still, Gabe Fletcher and his Imperial IPA lovin’ crew don’t stop there. They add loads of Galaxy and Citra Hops, producing waves of fresh blood orange, drippy mango, and pithy grapefruit. That’s followed by a tinge of pine resin, mingled with whispers of sweet papaya.
But, move quickly if you want a taste of this succulent hop combo. In addition to being highly sought-after, Riwaka Hops are notoriously challenging to grow and only available in limited quantities — even in their native New Zealand!
We don’t know when we’ll see them in the hands of a masterful brewing team like Anchorage again.
