A Note on This Beer
I’ve always been a fan of the morning, even as a kid! At 7 AM, sharp — all wrapped up in my favorite pair of football jammies — I’d bound down the stairs for breakfast cereal and cartoons.
The best part of it all: the freshly washed, plump plum my mom would plop in my palm before I hopped aboard the school bus. I’d joyfully indulge in bite after drippy bite, blissfully ignorant of the sticky juices that swept down my chin.
Sippin’ on today’s NIMROD Sour Ale from Black Project, I feel the same sense of carefree glee.
That’s because the brewers stuffed this Sour Ale with “insane amounts” of real plums and sweet cherries, for layers of delightfully nostalgic fruit flavor. One succulent swig after another, swells of sweet stone fruit flirt with swirls of lush red cherries. With its dry mouthfeel and slightly sour bite, it’s almost impossible to resist another sip!
Even though I no longer own a pair of football jammies (tragic), so long as there’s a can of NIMROD in my fridge, I know it’s going to be an excellent day.
*The Denver Post named Black Project the Editors Pick for Colorado Brewery of the Year!
