A Note on This Beer

The crew at Humble Forager say they drew inspiration for Nomads Paradise from the beloved Almond Joy candy bar.

But, this brew is way fancier — and, more well-traveled — than any candy bar I’ve ever eaten!

To make this decadent Imperial Pastry Stout, the brewers used rich cacao nibs all the way from India and the silkiest vanilla beans from Papua New Guinea. They added toasty, California-grown almonds, and finished things off with creamy coconut from the sunny Philippines.

Smooth cocoa coats the tongue with each quaff, accented by a dense nuttiness. Luscious coconut cream compliments its earthy character for a decadently balanced, opulently thick sip from beginning to end.

Plus, it comes with something you won’t find in any candy bar — a massive 12% ABV!

Sure, you could head down to the nearest store and ransack the candy aisle to satisfy your sweet tooth, but wouldn't you rather treat yourself to something a bit more exotic? Something more akin to a fudgy molten chocolate cake topped with toasted almonds and drizzled in a coconut anglaise?

DISSAPOINTED. Really gross. I was excited to try because the description sounded really tasty, but it taste nothing like what it says..... it’s gross. It has no flavor at all expect the burn of alcohol.

This wasn’t the worst stout I’ve had but it was overly sweet and had an odd aftertaste. I couldn’t finish it and I finish almost everything.

Great dark chocolate and vanilla flavors at the beginning. Very smooth with subtle coconut and almond undertones. Not overly sweet, but well balanced.

Drank it super chilled after reading the reviews and surprised that there wasn’t an overbearing alcohol taste. In fact, quite smooth, chocolatey with a hint of coconut and texture was quite creamy. I dunno if the temperature has to do with it, but this stout is best served really chilled

This is sweet and thick and delicious, everything a pastry stout should be. If you don’t like that, why did you buy a pastry stout?

Yeah, the first taste was definitely off. However, I decided to let it warm up some more and then it became much more enjoyable. Good chocolate flavor, and for me not too sweet.

Almost too much of a heavy, syrupy flavor. Definitely didn’t pick up on the coconut either. Not a bad heavy hitter, but not great.

A little too thick and boozy. Slightly too bitter/roasty on the end of the beer. However, I appreciate that this wasn't overly sweet and the coconut and almond are there but subtle. The beer is the centerpiece and the flavors are additional to it. Creamy and roasty.

definitely start this highly chilled, but do let the last third warm a bit. I enjoyed this one. coco nibs stood out and that might be what many reviews aren’t liking.

MUST swirl in glass prior to EVERY sip… …pulls out the almond and coconut. Cacao Nibs pulling some bitterness to round out the sweetness. Not amazing, but with patience rewarding.

Initial taste is chocolate, vanilla and coconut, not too sweet. Roasty, more bitter finish. Alcohol hits mid way which gives away its 12% vol. Solid, but not exceptional stout - not sure what is up with the terrible reviews.

After reading the comments before my first sip I was expecting an overwhelming alcohol flavor and after taste….. Which I did not find. The aroma was solid, not too sweet, certainly smells like a pastry. Really smooth going down. Would buy again.

Average pastry stout. It didn't scream Almond Joy to me. Nowadays you gotta really bring it to claim a specific taste like this and it came up short. Flavors overall were dull.
