About This Beer

Sig collaborated with their pals at Linc Malt to feature a blend of locally-grown specialty malts that includes “a hefty dose of triticale.” The wheat/ rye cross adds a nutty sweetness and mellow earthy tone, and with a 24-hour boil, gives the brew the kind of full body you expect in a Barleywine.

After fermentation, the team aged it for 24 months in just two Elijah Craig barrels — one from their 18 Year Bourbon and another from their Double Oaked Bourbon. Finally, they hand bottled it all and conditioned the super-limited stash for two months.

Tasting Notes

The result is a rich, malty blend with notes of bourbon caramel, baked apples, and toasty tobacco. Hints of cinnamon and oaky vanilla flit around the periphery of each silky sip for an impression of pie spice.

As the layers unfold, the 11.5% ABV remains balanced and warming.

I don't really like this beer. The bourbon taste like an additive versus an actual barrel age. Strange considering how amazing the barrels are that they used.
