About This Beer

The GABF-winning Wayfinder team makes the Original Cold IPA by fusing the hop-forward character of a WC IPA with the clean, crushability of a Lager.

First comes an adjunct Lager malt bill that the crew ferments warm with Lager yeast. That creates an extra-crispy base for “bucketloads of new and old-school” cones in the dry hop. Finally, they filter the brew for a crystal-clear sip.

Tasting Notes

Swirls of lemongrass, grapefruit pith, and orange zest lead into crackly baguette notes in every light swig. Ripe peach and refreshing pine resin nuances follow, ending with a snappy finish that begs another taste.

Bright, brassy gold color. Large, frothy white head. Subtle citrus aroma. Flavor is tangy, bittersweet citrus. Notes of grapefruit and lemon pith. Resiny pine on backend. A bit minerally as well.

My understanding is that this is truly the original for the style. Aromatic crisp hoppiness. Both citrusy and piney. Crisp hoppy bitter finish. Nice.
