A Note on This Beer

They officially call it a Fruited Sour. But, the more sips I have of The Brewing Projekt’s Puff Tart series, the more I think they’ve come up with a new style of smoothie beer.

Especially with today’s fluffy Passionberry Peach Puff Tart! Not only does this lip-smackingly luscious brew have real passionfruit, peach, and blackberry in it, but the brewers smoothed it out further with doses of milk sugar and marshmallow flavor!

So yeah, it’s not JUST a ‘Fruited Sour.’ One sip of this scrumptious treat, and it’s clear — the Puff Tart beer is an ultra-thick, savor-worthy smoothie treat!

Looking at all the 4 and 5-star Untappd reviews, this movement for ‘Puff Tart’ as its own style already has plenty of support:

Granted, the Puff Tart style isn’t really seen outside of the Midwest right now, except on Tavour. But, seeing as The Brewing Projekt is one of Food & Wine’s 19 Craft Breweries Worth Going Out of Your Way For, it’s probably only a matter of time before it catches on!

This is by far my favorite sour that I've tried. You can taste all three fruits and get a smooth marshmallow end. Very refreshing and drinkable smoothie.

Thick, smooth, sweet, and a slight berry tartness. The marshmallow in this is pretty intense, which gives it a very soft fluffy sweetness that flirts with the line of being too much, but just avoids it.

Daaaaaaaaaaaammmmn how is this beer?!?!?! Absolutely excellent smoothie style sour. Peach comes through nicely along with the passion fruit. Missing a little on the blackberry but the creamy smoothness from the marshmallow makes up for that little error.

This is so extra. The combo of passion fruit, peach, and blackberries blends together into a bright fruitiness that’s softened on a pillow of marshmallow that feels more like coconut cream in the tropical context. It’s doing a lot and it’s light fun.
