A Note on This Beer

*This beer is over 50% gone!*

Rather than serving a Cabernet or a traditional table beer at your next dinner party, why not treat yourself to the best of both worlds with Past Present?

For this blurring of beer and wine, Washington’s Dwinell Country Ales started with a rustic base beer brewed with local malt. Then, they co-fermented the Wild Ale on the region’s own Cabernet Sauvignon grapes before aging it in oak barrels for over a year!

Complex farmhouse funk blends with earthy, dark red fruit flavors and tart, tannic oak notes. The start of each sip is smooth and easy before crescendoing into a crisp Sauvignon finish.

A gorgeous gateway from wines to Wilds and vice versa, you can’t find this unique taste of Pacific Northwest Wine Country outside of Washington State. Actually, you can’t even find it there anymore — it’s already sold out at the brewery! Luckily, we saved a few bottles!

Just after opening, Dwinell Country Ales was named one of Top 3 Small Breweries in the Country by Craft Beer & Brewing!

Nice wine-y notes and good balance. Body is a little thin/light - that’s the main factor that separates this from some of the best beers of this type (like similar ones from Cascade or Russian River that are truly exceptional)

way more tart than expected. very flowery. very "classic wild ale" except for the tartness. some oak barrel flavor, which was nice. the cabernet flavor hardly came through

Refined sour; a little too thin with strong oak, blackberry, raspberry, and tart notes that needed a heartier base to carry it. Great to drink, all the same

Initially tart, it quickly mellows into a great farmhouse ale with light wine notes.
