A Note on This Beer

Unless you’ve visited one of the few specialty blenderies in the world that focus on rare styles, you probably haven’t tasted a Meerts Fruited Sour.

But, thanks to our friends at Funk Factory Geuzeria, now’s your chance to change that.

Their Peach Meerts is similar to a Lambic, born from spontaneous fermentation. But, what sets Meerts beers apart from Lambics is their lighter body and slightly lower carbonation. That means they're even more refreshing, and their flavors POP in every sip.

Today’s “modern interpretation” begins with a base of Pilsner Malt, raw wheat, and Saaz Hops for a smooth body and gentle, earthy spice character. The Funk Factory crew ferments it in French oak foeders with wild yeast for woody funk, then aged on peaches for two months before bottle conditioning.

It’s a tangy quencher with delectable bursts of stone fruit, and it’s one that only very lucky Midwesterners usually get to taste.

Now, you can add “only very lucky Tavour members” to that list, because we have just 131 bottles to go around. Better move fast!

Funk followed by peach funk ending in funky town.

Puckery, peachy, a solid one. Not as funky as expected.

Could use more peach, but a solid sour.

Nice peach notes. Would've liked a little more funk to compliment the tart. 🍻

Very acidic aroma with subtle stone fruit at the end. The flavor is also very acidic, which I don’t mind, but given that this is a Lambic, I feel like a good amount of sweetness is necessary to carry more of the fruit flavors. The aftertaste is where all of the peach resides, unfortunately.

Sour, tart, and juicy, all at the same time. The tartness comes through very solidly up front, and then it finishes with a mellow hint of peach on your palate after you swallow.
