A Note on This Beer
After one sip of today’s oak-aged masterpiece, I think I’ve finally solved the mystery of what the “p” in pFriem stands for.
Peaches, peaches, and more peaches! Because today’s 4.22 BA-rated Pêche Barrel-Aged Lambic Ale is loaded with a massive 2,400 lbs of organic, Oregon-grown heirloom peaches per batch!
This juicy offering exemplifies pFriem’s ability to pack giant amounts of fruity flavor into an easy-drinking Lambic-style Ale. They’ve even won Gold at the World Beer Cup in the Belgian-Style Fruit Beer category, proving that they know their fruity business!
And today’s Ale joins the ranks of Fruited Sours from greats like New Glarus, 3 Fonteinen, and Cantillon among BeerAdvocate’s Top 60 Fruit Lambics in the World. One BA user even praises Pêche as “The best Lambic-style ale I've ever had!”
Bring this 5.8% ABV peach-tastic sipper on a picnic lunch or daytime adventure and you’ll have the perfect fruity friend to savor in the summertime sun.
The brewers begin by aging their Lambic base for up to 2 years in French Oak Barrels to build up those sour-inducing flavors of lemon and tart stonefruit skins. Then they add 2.5 lbs per gallon of Suncrest and Arctic Gem peaches into the Lambic base and let it age for another eight months!
The result? A tart and tangy brew with peach sweetness, sour funkiness, and undertones of oaky vanilla for a pucker-worthy balance. Yum!
As a fruit that is only harvested in the late summer, peaches are the final taste of the season. With this succulent sipper in your stash, it’s guaranteed to be a sweet one.
