A Note on This Beer
Some things are destined to move through phases: The moon. The weather. Me wearing lots of black clothes in my early teen years.
But today’s beer is not just a phase — it’s Anchorage’s Phases!
One sip of this bright and fruity Blueberry Sour Ale will plant you firmly in the Sour-lovin’ scene for good. Because wild ‘n funky, beers are one of the things Anchorage does best.
From the coveted Migrating Eyes to the 4+ UT-rated vintages of The Experiment, the Anchorage brewers truly express their mastery in their tart and funky beers. And with Phases, you get a brand new taste of that mastery, wrapped in layers of lip-tingling blueberry preserves.
Because this is the first 100% spontaneous fermented beer Anchorage has ever released!
To make it, the brewers aged a spontaneously fermented Ale and in French Oak for 27 months! Then, for the pièce de résistance, they finished it on heaps of Wild Alaskan Blueberries. The resulting purple-hued pour tastes like lip-smacking blueberry lemonade!
If you haven’t yet entered the “Sour” phase in your craft beer journey, now would be a great time to get moving.
*A few years ago, Anchorage held a fundraiser for a close friend undergoing cancer treatment — and one auction item was to brew a beer with headbrewer Gabe Fletcher. Suki and Leanne were the proud winners, and 2+ years later, Phases is ready to drink!
