About This Beer

There’s nothing better than having a cake around the house — and a decadent beer to drink along with it makes it that much better! Cycle Brewing aged their sumptuous Imperial Stout in bourbon barrels for a year, accenting the dark malts with oaky vanillins and subtle whiskey spice.

When you open up a bottle of R1 Rare Dos, you’ll be greeted by aromas of dark chocolate bundt cake. And each sip delivers on the promise, with rich, fudgy notes of baking chocolate, coffee, boozy vanilla, and a hint of caramelized crust. Rare dos is always a treat and this was no exception. Really enjoyed it.

It was okay. It sat next to some other stouts that were much better and more robust in flavor. For being a non-adjunct or adjunct free beer I expected barrel. I got a some with more just stone fruit/raisins after the soy sauce/teriyaki greeting is able to be overlooked.

I first tried this in 2022, and it was very good. Recently ordered again in 2023 and the consistency was sludge-like and gross. Not sure how old. No date. Updated rating accordingly and will not purchase again.
