A Note on This Beer
Normally, to get a taste of today’s Really Pale Ale you’d have to go almost all the way to friggin’ Canada. Way up to the tiny town of Hinesburg, Vermont, where the brewers at Frost Beer Works create some of the juiciest brews in the country.
There are less than 5,000 people in Hinesburg, but they drink so much of this delectable Hazy Pale that the rest of Vermont barely gets a shot at it. And outside of the state you won’t find a drop.
But this stuff is so damn good that craft fiends from across New England make the trek north for a sip of this fabled brew. Folks can’t get enough!
That’s why The Boston Globe called out Frost as one of the Best Breweries in Vermont and Forbes listed them as one of the 50 Fastest Growing Breweries in the Country.
To get our little stash, we had to beg Frost to let us smuggle some out past the hordes of thirsty locals and beer-tourists, and we still only snagged a handful of cases! Unless your buddies have visited the Green Mountain State recently, they haven’t tasted the tropical citrus kiss of this Hopped-up Pale Ale.
And man is it ever hopped up. The brewers at Frost loaded this concoction with over 3lbs per barrel of the juiciest cones they could find! They won’t tell us the full hop bill, but they did let us in on one of their little secrets: Mandarina Bavaria Hops.
One sip and you’ll know exactly what this uncommon German Hop adds to the beer.
It’s like a whole citrus grove worth of tropically tangy mandarin and juicy orange was squeezed straight into the brew, along with a few mangoes and a little lemongrass for good measure! When your buds get a taste of Really Pale they’ll probably accuse you of adding pureed tangerines or something. But all that flavor is straight up Hops!
If you happen to find yourself way up in northern Vermont, by all means, stop in Hines and fight the crowds at Frost’s taproom. Believe us, it’s worth it! But until then, grab yourself a few cans of Really Pale Ale so you and your buddies can find out just how juicy a Pale can be.
