A Note on This Beer

After trudging up a long trail to a high, rocky outcrop, the best thing to do is sit back, take in the view, and crack open a cold can of Rugged Outlook IPA.

Few things compliment a stunning vista like the OJ, pineapple, and dank mango flavors that course through this brew’s uber-soft, oat-filled body. Plus, you can smile at all the other hikers who will stare enviously and wish that they’d brought beer, too.

And even if they had, it probably wouldn’t be nearly as juicy and smooth as Rugged Outlook. The brewers at Humble Forager loaded this Imperial IPA with absurd amounts of Vic Secret, Galaxy, Citra, and El Dorado Hops, so it tastes like a tropical juice blend with a touch of pithy bitterness on the finish.

They also gave it a bold 9% ABV, so you only have to carry one to use as a summit sipper — and that means a lighter pack!

If the only hiking you plan to do is between the beer fridge and the back porch, Rugged Outlook will taste mighty fine there, too.

According to October Magazine, Humble Forager’s IPAs set an “incredibly high standard.”

It’s just too hoppy and bitter for my pallet. The honey is vastly overpowered by the hops and alcohol.

Goes down like water but is absolutely delicious. The 9% kicks in about half way through. Not overly hoppy, minimal bitterness

This wasn’t as much of a cream IPA as I expected. However, it did not disappoint. Bursting with hops and the honey is a great addition. It’s so hazy it’s dumb. Wonderful flavor on the front end and the finish is dry. Would drink a lot of these!!

Solid IPA. Nothing fancy. Good flavor and finishes smooth. Would buy again.

I get both hoppy and honey loud and clear, gives it more depth than a typical TIPA, but they don’t compliment each other the way I’d hoped.

This beer was above average. I wouldn’t order it online again but if I seen it somewhere On Tap I would order it! Especially if I need to catch a quick buzz!

16oz can from Tavour. Murky, hazy yellow pour with creamy white head. Light aroma, faint bready malts and citrus. Taste features a little bit of juice, grapefruit peel, sweet and tart. Triple IPA at 9%, so not over the top in ABV, but still very gentle on the palate.

Lacks honey. Seems like it might be over dry hopped.

Soft sweet fluffy mouthfeel, tropical juice, with some pithiness in the finish, and 9%! Biggg fan

The piney flavor mixed with the sweetness of the wildflower honey whisks me far away to the mountains that I once visited regularly as a boy!
