A Note on This Beer
YESSS! At long last, we snagged our first beer from the phenomenal crafters at Jackie O’s!
They earned a spot in Paste Mag’s Top 10 Breweries of 2017 alongside hypebeasts like Tired Hands, Perennial and J.Wakefield -- but their masterfully made beers go way beyond hype.
We can taste Jackie O’s obsession with quality in today’s Wine Barrel-Aged Scrip. It’s complex and delicate, with notes of musky lemon, farmhouse hay, hints of white pepper, sweet wheatgrass and rustic grains. Nuances of oaky-vanilla and whispers of white grape from the wine barrels emerge in the finish.
When we first tasted it, we echoed BA user @Weareallfalafel: “My first time trying anything from this brewery and it’s absolutely perfect. Everything you want a grisette to be, and then some.”
Beers like this are the reason Tavour’s been courting Jackie O’s for years. One of our veteran team members recalls how, back when we were just starting out, she got super excited after getting an out-of-office email reply from the O’s -- just knowing we made contact with them got her starry-eyed. So when we got our first taste -- an exceptional one at that -- there may have been a few tears shed at Tavour…
