A Note on This Beer
When Gabe Fletcher of Anchorage Brewing says, “This, I believe, is the most hoppy beer we have ever produced,” all craft fiends better perk up their ears.
Because friends, he is not kidding. It’s called Six of Swords, and it’s absolutely loaded with dank melon, mango, and kush-like flavors from an obscene amount of hops. Here’s the breakdown straight from the man himself:
“Brewed with Strata Hops, then the fun begins. We dry-hopped this beer SIX times!!! First with more Strata, then, Citra, then with a hit of Sabro and Motueka, Again with Mosaic and New Zealand Cascade, then with more Strata, and finally with EVEN MORE STRATA!!!!”
How bonkers is that? It’s so hoppy that you won’t even taste a hint of the 9.5% ABV!
Of course, the massive hop bill does come with at least one drawback. According to Fletcher, they lost a ludicrous 38% of this brew to hop absorption. Yes, that’s a real thing, and it means this spectacularly dank and tropically passionfruit-flavored brew is even more limited than most Anchorage beers!
When the announcement dropped on Instagram, @joeparello reacted in the most reasonable way: “Aannnd I just pushed my Tavour crate back a week.”
Good thinking, Joe. Here’s the beer. Scoop up your cans while we got ‘em because this stuff is going to disappear faster than you can say ‘Six of Swords’ 6 times fast.
This beer is too new for ratings!
