About This Beer
This is the beer that turned AleSmith into craft legends. Even the expert palates at The Beer Connoisseur call it a “modern classic” for the way it “throws off fistfulls of coffee, toffee, and dark fruit flavors.” And they rate it 98/100!
Tasting Notes
You’ll discover deep rivers of dark chocolate and plenty of roasty coffee (from a careful addition of top shelf beans) in every silky sip. After more than five years in AleSong’s carefully controlled cellar, it’s all smoother, fudgier, and more approachable than ever! The coffee flavors lean a little fruitier, and you’ll struggle to taste a trace of that 12% ABV. You could stick this bottle in your own cellar and let it age even further, but where’s the fun in that?

This stuff actually smells bad, burnt and charred like smoke. Acrid and bitter like a dry stout mixed with bottom shelf shots.

This is a stout. The flavor was as simple as that sentence. Not necessarily a knock but I was left wanting a little something else in the mix.

coffee has faded a bit over time but still a good stout

Big roasty malt aroma and flavor with lots of chocolate character but very little coffee character. Boozy !! Roasted malt and chocolate > coffee. Fairly full bodied. 🇮🇱

chocolate, mellowed out a ton over the past 6 years
