A Note on This Beer
Northwest breweries have an understanding: if you’re going to craft a Sour in Oregon, there’s a league of expert competition — so you better bring your A-game.
Shoot, Portland is nicknamed ‘Beervana’, for crying out loud! Today’s tart-tastic quencher is competing with Sour crackerjacks the likes of Cascade, Great Notion, and Upright!
And, while the Oregon Beer Award-winners at Little Beast are the smallest brewery of the bunch, they make beer as monstrously bold as their name suggests.
They pack today’s Sylvestris Gose with Oregon Pinot Noir grapes, high-end Fleur de Sel salt, and coriander. The salinity and spice amp up the jammy notes in the wine grapes to beastly levels!
Local Sour fans on Untappd are raving:
“Been itching to get my hands (and more importantly, tongue) on this one. Keep up the great work!” @James F.
“The Pinot Noir grapes turn this good Gose to a really good Gose. A li’l funky. Fruity without being too fruity. A li’l salty, slightly sweet. Light, refreshing.” @J.H.
“More fruit and less salt than I usually find in a gose. If you sip it, you get the individual character of everything that's in here. But you could totally crush a few cans of it too.” @Andrew W.
We’re crushing a few of these now, and they’re tasting mighty fine. Sour fans, grab some, and see for yourselves!
