About This Beer
Pontoon’s skilled crew collabed with Netflix’s own Rasheed Phillips of Philips’ Barbeque to create today’s decadent sipper! (If you’re into BBQ, give the ‘The American Barbecue Showdown’ a watch)!
To start, Rasheed specially-smoked the malts used in Tall Dark & Smokey. Then, Pontoon’s skilled brew-crew took those one-of-a-kind malts, brewed their Porter base, and added select vanilla beans and cocoa nibs for a roasty, well rounded, opulent dark beer!
Tasting Notes
Each silky sip of Tall, Dark, & Smokey tastes like a fluffy bite of luxurious lava cake, drizzled in smokey dark chocolate ganache.

The first sip was a little rough I won’t lie. Second sip was like wow. Third sip was a slight chug haha. Smokey chocolately goodness.

It's like someone poured together two beers that I would otherwise enjoy and combined them in an unpleasant manner.

This one was definitely Smokey. Not my glass of beer but definitely my husband’s!

Rich chocolate, sweet vanilla, and just a hint of smoke.

Much sweeter than expected for a smoked beer with Smokey in the name. Still very solid for the style and a great gateway Rauch.

Very… fine. Would I drink it again? Yes. I enjoyed the Smokey flavor, could be a go-to for me for meat smoking this fall.

Not overwhelmingly smokey, but nicely malted and full of flavor.

Nice for a smoked stout, but the smokiness overtakes all other flavors. Tastes like smoked almonds. Wasn’t the worst but I prefer stouts without so much smoke.

quite light bodied, yet rich flavor. I love the smoke, perfect on a rainy cold October eve… nice prelude to a fine dram of Lagavulin 16!

nothing overdone or gimmicky about the beer. there may have been some smoke but not enough to remember. drank like a mild porter with some flavors coming through. I don’t remember it being that sweet

This Porter grew on me after noticing the vanilla bean sweetness towards the end of the nose. Pretty cool on the story for this beer, the fact that a brewery and a barbecue hot spot can collab on a beer and the smokiness is pretty flavorful and unique!

Smokey and chocolatey, then chocolatey and smokey and then just smokey as it warmed up. I liked it.
