A Note on This Beer
Don’t be fooled by the 2020 vintage year on The Ages — this exquisite Gueuze-inspired Sour Ale is the result of multi-year blending!
To layer the brew in notes of crisp white grape and earthy pear, whispers of white pepper, and a barnyard funk finish, the award-winning Deschutes team carefully combined a variety of base beers aged between one and three years. Now, after a year in the bottle, natural conditioning has deepened the complexity and made the fruit and spice esters more pronounced.
Increasingly tough to find in the Pacific Northwest, this highly limited release has more than won over the local craft fans who’ve tasted it:
- “Mild funk, white wine characteristics. Dry finish. Absolutely delicious, with the right amount of tartness.” @Ashis N.
- “Probably the best Sour I’ve had from Deschutes.” @MaltDoesMore
- “Tart and citrusy, this Sour channels the flavors of its barrels to accompany a prominent taste of grapes and other subtle fruits. Delightful and remarkable.” @Stuart M.
No sense beating around the beer bush — our small, 20-case stash will likely be your only shot at tasting this American Gueuze for the ages!
