A Note on This Beer
There are so many reasons to get excited about today’s Sour Ale, I can’t possibly list them all. That’s why I’ve narrowed it down to the highlights. Check it out!
- Loaded with wild Alaskan blueberries! Wild, or ‘low bush’ blueberries are sweeter, tangier, and more flavorful than their farm-raised counterparts. And you can experience the full range of their deliciousness in today’s brew.
- Crafted by Anchorage! You all love everything we get from this crew, and you’re not alone. Thrillist called them the Best Brewery in Alaska!
- Crazy-rare! Head brewer Gabe Fletcher doesn’t release much of this delectable nectar, so it’s unlikely that any of your buddies have a bottle stashed away.
- So friggin’ delicious! On top of all that bright blueberry flavor, you’ll find notes of wild funk and touches of wood from conditioning in French oak foeders. And the tart body balances beautifully against the fruity sweetness.
Excited yet? I know I am! So snag your bottles while we have ‘em, Sour fans. Because once our little stash is gone, who knows when we’ll get more!

The taste doesn’t stick around for long. Very “thin”

It’s good, and the bottle is awesome but it’s not amazing and that’s what I wanted it to be. It could be, with maybe double the berries and a ton more sour punch.

I love the Anchorage brewing company but this left much to be desired and a bad taste in my mouth. The initial sip was great but then a very sour taste hits and lingers. If you like a sour beer, definitely give this a try. If not, stay away

Sour but thin. Not as much blueberry as you might expect, a little let down but very easy to drink

Not as tart as the smell or description would lead you to believe. The blueberry comes through so well and this was very easy to drink. Wild sour lovers should really dig it. It's complex and not the warhead/9volt battery licking pucker sours that some people chase.

Big nose, gentle berry taste with real dry finish.

Might be the best sour I’ve ever had. Not too tart, not too sweet. Pleasantly surprised by this one.

Such a unique bottle and very good initial taste that has a great sour note up front. However the floral taste at the end was very bitter and left a bad taste in my mouth. Definitely an interesting beer.

POUR EM IF YOU GOT EM!
Tonight, from Anchorage brewing in Anchorage,Alaska, it's "the experiment"!
this Missouri oak aged sour ale runs 7% and offers aromatics of bing cherries and raspberry sweetarts! Further aged on a bed of wild Alaskan blue berries gives the sour base some tartness, but cellar aging has mellowed this to a beautiful and crisp sipper! Cleanse the palate before dinner with this one! Finishes with a dry wooded spice and light floral notes. Very well done! Should've used a fluted champagne glass lol
