About This Beer
The brewers aged this Stout for 15 months in 8 to 12-year-old bourbon barrels with brewer’s licorice and cassia cinnamon bark, then carefully blended those barrels to achieve peak flavor. It’s the crown jewel of Fremont’s multi-award winning portfolio and a prime example of the barrel-aging expertise that rocketed them to national acclaim.
The Rusty Nail earned Silver at the highly competitive Festival of Barrel Aged Beer, and was named a Craft Beer & Brewing Editor’s Pick!
Tasting Notes
This beast sings with layers of dark cocoa and spice atop a finely-tuned bourbon profile. The 13.3% ABV is completely cloaked behind rich aromas of caramelized sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. With the first sip, you’ll notice each element present in a thick, chewy mouthfeel full of dark chocolate, leather, Bourbon-soaked raisins, vanilla, molasses, and a touch of smoke.

It was like sipping a nice bourbon while comprehending it was a smooth stout.

Taste is anise, cinnamon, chocolate heavy throughout. Notes of vanilla and brown sugar on the mid-palate. Finishes with hints of tobacco, dark fruit and barrel. Rusty nail has been a staple for a long while now. If I could rate this closer to a 4.65, I would
Efrain79 - will you stop rating like you actually hate beer ffs?

If I knew when I was going to die I would want to be drinking this amazing Stout so that the person delivering my eulogy could say “He died doing what he loved”. I have a 2013 B-Bomb that I’m saving for a special occasion and can only imagine how good that’s going to be.
