A Note on This Beer

Have you ever dipped a plump, juicy strawberry straight into a velvety, dark chocolate fountain? It’s luxurious and fresh — total dessert nirvana!

Today’s Vanilla Strawberry Truffle Hill tastes just like the hand-dipped treat, only… so much better.

Our brand-new friends at Southern Grist stuffed this Fruited Sour with fresh strawberry puree, cacao nibs, vanilla, and a silky swirl of lactose! With an ever-so-discreet 5.8% ABV, it tastes like my berry-dessert dreams, topped with fluffy, spiked whipped cream.

Take a thick sip, and experience how these Nashville smoothie connoisseurs delicately conjure flavors of fresh-off-the-vine fruit, coated in rich Ghirardelli's. Breathe in aromas of tart, red berry, vanilla bean, and creamy white chocolate, and indulge in another pillowy swig.

Now, if that’s not enough to get your sweet tooth buzzin’, listen up: Forbes declares Southern Grist one of the American South’s Best Craft Breweries.

That’s because they craft out-of-the-box brews that keep the locals coming back for more. From one week to the next, their ENTIRE taplist might change!

Which means (you guessed it) most brews only stick around for so long — once they’re gone, they’re gone for good! Today’s Vanilla Strawberry Truffle Hill, included.

*Southern Grist won Nashville Scene Magazine’s writer’s choice New Brewery of the Year in their first year running. AND, they made Craft Beer and Brewing’s Critics’ list of Top 10 Beers of the year in 2020!

Fabulous. Good amount of sour. Strong strawberry flavor, you can smell the chocolate as you drink and taste it at the end.

It's smooth and has a strawberry sour taste at the beginning then you have a chocolate after taste at the end I couldn't taste the vanilla to much but all in all it was good!

Nice strawberry without the too much of the sour tartness. The chocolate vanilla flavor lingers on the back end and really rounded it out. Definitely a different flavor profile than the typical “strawberry smoothies” that seem to be the rage now a days. Complex beer flavors but also a great day time sipper on a hot Saturday afternoon!

No doubt the flavors are clear, strawberry and chocolate, was surprised by how much I enjoyed this beer.

Could definitely taste the strawberry. It was more tart/sour than I had expected. Reminded me of fresh strawberries that weren't quite ripe yet

Not a great first impression for me of Southern Grist. It wasn’t horrible, just a little bit of a medicine like taste for me.

This was very refreshing, but not as thick and pulpy as most fruited sours I've tried, which was a nice bonus and one my kidneys were in approval of! Near-perfect amount of sweetness, but could have been just a tiny bit sweeter - but that's more of a preference thing for me (for reference I like the chocolately sweet imperial bakery stouts the most, and the sweeter fruited sours). The vanilla and truffle hints really added a beautiful finish to the flavor and I think without those it wouldn't have been as special.

Wanted it to be more potent all around. It was too mild.

This is just like a fresh strawberry dipped in chocolate. Tart and sweet, bitter and dark. Smooth and velvety with just the right amount of bite.
