A Note on This Beer

John Harris of Ecliptic Brewing is a true living legend of craft beer.

He created some of the best known brews in the country while working at Deschutes and Full Sail. After more than 3 decades in the game, he’s still blowing the mind’s of Portland craft fans with his beloved Cosmic Collaboration series.

For today’s Cosmic Collab, he teamed up with one of Seattle’s most beloved breweries.

Cloudburst stormed onto the local scene in 2016 and immediately shook things up. They’re a Craft Beer & Brewing Breakout Brewer and one of Eater’s Essential Seattle Breweries. They actually had to open a second location in the city this year — and even during quarantine it’s attracting (appropriately distanced) lines for to-go beer.

That’s TWO Pacific Northwest powerhouse breweries! When they joined forces to craft today’s Witbier With Lemon, they shot for the stars!

This sip sparkles with flavors of tangy lemon, real orange zest, and just a bit of spicy coriander on the finish. The silken body drinks smooth all the way down, with light malty notes that balance out the fruitiness, so you can drink it until long after the sun goes down without it ever becoming cloying.

Every drop is like a last celebration of summer!

Like all beers in the Cosmic Collaboration series, Witbier with Lemon will be around for a very limited time!

I don't get this one. It's bitter and unpleasant. Vague hint of lemon at first but not redeeming.

Crisp and easy drinking. Wasn't as hazy as I expected a traditional wheat beer to be. Defiantly tarter than Belgian's make their witbiers. Overall a decent beer.

I love witbiers and was excited to try this, but the flavors don’t really mix well IMO

Great flavor, lemongrass and a hint of spice. Refreshing spring / summer beer. A light version of Oberon?

Definitely not my favorite beer. Not a huge fan of the coriander flavoring. Tasted a bit too savory and not enough lemon for my liking, but overall a light beer that has a refreshing aspect.

Bitter and tart AF! A little lemon and maybe a lot of hops. A good drain pour.

Man I love this one. Nice late summer/early fall Witbier. Heavy lemon & orange peel taste, with the perfect amount of bittery hops thrown in.

The lemon aspect is nice: It’s zingy and just a little tart, like an unsweetened lemon drop. But they stubbed their toe on the coriander, so the beer has a harshly bitter medicinal bite to it.
