A Note on This Beer
Down in Washougal, Washington, on the banks of the Columbia river, Logsdon Farmhouse Ales crafts celebrated small-batch Wild Ales and Sours that rival any in the country.
Case in point: Zuurprium. This fruit-filled Sour won a Gold Medal at the 2019 Oregon Beer Awards, a prestigious Silver Medal at GABF, AND a Silver at the World Beer Cup! With awards like that rolling in, this brew needs its very own trophy case!
You Sour fans out there love it, too. Last time we snagged a stash, you rated it an towering 4.23 on Tavour! And, early tasters are calling this 2020 version an “absolute explosion of plum,” and, “deliciously tart!”
@Patrick R. takes it one step further: “Reminded me of eating a plum off grandpa’s tree.”
Aged for 4 months in French Oak Barrels, this Saison-and-Lambic-inspired Sour Ale blend swims in fruity funk.
Fragrant jammy and floral aromas swell from the amber-hued pour. Notes of fleshy, tart plums and juicy blackberries are apparent in every sip, while oak from the barrel-aging adds an earthy complexity to the rustic funk. A semi-dry finish brings a slightly vinous character that complements the hefty 7.5% ABV.
But, we only have 14 cases of this once-a-year release, so if you want a taste, you’d better act fast!
The last batch of ZuurPruim rated 4.23 on Tavour!
