My favorite scene in the 1996 classic “Matilda” is when evil principal Miss Trunchbull forces young Bruce Bogtrotter to eat a massive chocolate cake all by himself. 

Unexpectedly cheered on by his peers, “Brucie” triumphantly gorges down the entire thing, smearing his face and shirt with gobs of fudgy chocolate and licking the sticky confection off his hands in victory. 

I thought I’d never know chocolate decadence like that myself — until I tried today’s beer, Aon Pecan Mud Cake from the flavor masters at Omnipollo!

Leave it to Omnipollo to brew a cake in a glass and nail it. Their dark brews have garnered high praise, earning them Sweden’s Beer Developer of the Year Award and the title of One of the Most Important Breweries in Europe from Food & Wine Magazine!

And one sip of this double fudge cake of an Imperial Pastry Stout will have you feeling as high on Choco-goodness as a kid who just showed his principal who’s boss. 

This 11% ABV chocolate pecan monster is so ooey-gooey thick it’ll have you subconsciously reaching for a fork. Hold it up to the light, and Aon’s as dark brown and thick as that ginormous cake in “Matilda”, complete with a fluffy frosting-like head!

Confectionary chocolate aromas waft in upfront with hints of hazelnut. But dive headfirst into that chocolate cake, and semi-sweet dark chocolate morsels melt and coat your tongue, accompanied with drips of freshly whipped vanilla. Honey roasted pecan swiftly follows.

But it’s not over yet— waves of espresso and coffee descend on the back end, enticing you to dive back in again and again until the chocolate beast is vanquished. Don’t be surprised if the high ABV and the hedonistic joy of cramming your face hole with such velvety goodness have you standing up and pumping your fists heroically in the air by the end! “Go, Bruce!”

While you’re embracing your inner Bruce Bogtrotter, why not take things further and snag an extra can to pair with a chocolatey dessert? Sip it alongside a slice of cake, or pour it over some ice cream.* 

Things probably won’t get as messy as they did in the movie, but you and your friends can cheer each other on just the same!
