A Note on This Beer
Florida’s Odd Breed are a special crew of beer geeks who reap the benefits that come from small batch brewing. They're obsessed with wild mixed culture Sour Ales. Brewing on a nano scale allows the brewers to get creative: experimenting and calculating to see what they can produce.
They’re also obsessed with bugs! No, we’re not talking butterfly collections — these guys cherish the wild Brett, Sacc, and Pedio cultures that create the tart and funky tropical fruit flavors in their meticulously crafted Wild Ales.
Today’s Artistic Bugs Sour Ale is made from an unblended, single 500 Liter French Oak puncheon (that’s less than 60 cases)! It takes some serious brewing-science, and relentless trials and tribulations to pull this off — most Wild Ale brewers only achieve this level of balance after blending from several barrels. This brew came out of the first and only unblended puncheon that made the brewers at Odd Breed say yes, this is it! They’d unleashed all the hidden tiki fruit flavors they’d worked so hard to uncover!
This brew is seriously big in more ways than one. Its 750ml size and 9.2% ABV make it perfect for sharing with friends. The brewers suggest hosting a blind-tasting featuring today’s beer alongside some of your buddies’ favorite Fruit Sours. See if anyone can tell that the tangy mango, melony honeydew, and tart-n-juicy starfruit and passionfruit flavors brimming from today’s sour sipper, all come from their mixed house culture. There was no actual fruit used in this beer, and your buddies won’t believe you when you tell them.
