A Note on This Beer
There was a time not too long ago when you had to hock a lung to get a shot at owning today’s beer. Thankfully, that time has past because the stress of not knowing when or where I was going to get my hands on Evil Twin and Prairie Artisan Ales’ 13% ABV Bible Belt Imperial Stout was wearing me the f**k out.
That’s why when I see it on tap, I order it. When I see it on store shelves, I buy it — doesn’t matter how many are waiting for me at home. Because when I find something I love, I seize every opportunity there is to enjoy it.
For those that don’t know, Bible Belt takes the bold cayenne spice and dark roast coffee flavors of Prairie’s signature Bomb and marries it with Evil Twin’s Even More Jesus’ lush dark chocolate mousse profile. Each sip of this beer knocks me on my ass with a bit fat I told you so.
You're so chocolatey, like fudgy, gourmet silk ganache. I told you so.
I forgot about your kick of heat, like you’re sporting rich earthy peppers plucked from a farm in Mexico. I told you so.
And this year’s version is just as smooth as years past but it gives off heavier hits of cocoa with the illusion of a bit of whisky tobacco. Note, its rich, smooth mouthfeel makes the 13% ABV seem like some kind miracle.
Some beers you can’t wait to come back to. Doesn’t matter how high profile they are, how mainstream — you want them because the last time you had them, they were damn good and you didn’t get enough. And the hard truth is, there are 365 days in a year but there are NOT 365 days of bible season.
