A Note on This Beer

Looking for a rare, top-shelf dark brew? How about a Stout made with strictly the finest barrels in all of Colorado?!

Epic’s Big Bad Baptist Reserve is an annual release, blending Stouts aged in select barrels by the discerning Colorado crew.

For the 2022 release, the team went all-in on their Rocky Mountain roots, aging their Stout base in Vapor Distilling bourbon and single malt barrels. Then, to amp up the delicious flavors, they added sumptuous chocolate and coffee beans, so even the smallest sip comes with a huge wave of choco-lava cake.

First, the sweet fudge blends with bourbon caramel as tinges of peat settle on the taste buds. Bold mocha notes lead to a roasty, bellywarming finish from the massive 13.6% ABV!

Since Big Bad Baptist Reserve comes in a 22oz bomber, we recommend showing it off to your dark beer buddies. Not only will they appreciate the decadent, over-the-top delicious flavors, but there’ll be plenty to go around!

Epic’s annual showstopper also makes for an excellent addition to a beer cellar – stash it away and see how all those complexities change over time!

Tavour strictly supports independent beer. Epic Brewing Co. is certified independent by the Brewers Association

I thought this was solid, but let's be honest. I was pretty damn trashed when I cracked this bottle open. I don't remember shit.

Dark chocolate whiskey goodness - the rum might account for some of the lingering booziness, but it’s really tasty.

Good chocolate truffles that have that hint of coconut (plus whiskey) rolled in cocoa powder and a hint of coffee.

I drank this too soon. It needs 3 or 4 more years to really turn into a fantastic beer. It's good today but a little more age would go a long way. Good vanilla and cherry flavor. I love the boozy notes. Good beer.

great flavor, viscosity is fine but not the thickness I expect in a barrel aged stout.

Best barrel-aged stout I’ve had. Nice and smooth, good beer flavor without getting overwhelmed with the whisky flavor

So amazingly smooth. The abundance of barrel provides a lovely tingle on the tongue. This beer is truly best sipped and savored. A delightful treat!

A great balance of whiskey and rum character with big chocolate character. Both barrels are equal on the nose and flavor. My only issue is the chocolate is the dominant flavor and takes away from the other flavors.

Flavor shows a strong character of both the cacao and the coffee. Barrel is low but does show on mild rum nuance. Body is medium plus no alcohol burn anywhere. That’s why they say don’t age, drink fresh.
