A Note on This Beer

Braxton Labs brewed up one roasty, toasty, coconutty treat with today’s scrumptious Coconut Brown Ale!

Each sips brings me back to when Mom would load up a plate of fresh-baked coconut and chocolate haystack cookies, and graciously hand them over with a glass of cold milk.

Now, instead of soaking those confectionery delights in a cup of milk, this pastry Brown Ale tastes like fresh haystacks dunked in a cup of freshly-brewed coffee!

The Braxton brewers created it by crafting a malt-filled Brown Ale base for an amazingly crisp, caramel, biscuit, and mocha backbone. Noble Hops and sprinkle of brown sugar add a hint of light hoppiness and rich toffee flavor.

Then, they conditioned the brew on raw shredded coconut for a little hint of sweet, creamy, nuttiness!

Coconut Brown Ale also comes in a highly-indulgable 5.5% ABV — so, you can take as many cookie n’ coffee sips as you need to bring you back to those good ol’ cookie dunkin’ days.

The best part? I’m not left with a mess of milk-soaked cookie crumbs at the bottom of my glass, just a craving for more of this delicious brew!

Ordered from Tavour, a pint can, 5.5ABV, chilled and poured into an imperial pint glass. Look: dark brown, light tan head with thick bubbles that went away entirely. Left no lacing as we drank Smell: roasted malt, trace of bitter, some sweetness, but no coconut and no discernible brown sugar as described on the can Taste: roasted barley, trace sweetness, a little bitter on the back palate. No coconut we could get and no brown sugar. Really just a toasty brown ale for us Feel: pretty light feel, nice tickle of carbonation that hangs while it warmed in the glass We ordered this because it is from Braxton Labs and we have had a couple of their small batch dark stuff that was pretty good. This one was a “meh” beer. It was a crisp and toasty brown that had no discernible coconut or brown sugar. If you want a crisp brown go for it... if you want creative coconut sugar goodness, skip this one. Cheers everyone!

The coconut is there, take a small sip and just enjoy it for a minute. Wish it had more coconut but what is there is very enjoyable. Definitely going to buy more next time.

Brown ale is my favorite style so I was very disappointed with this offering. No coconut aroma and definitely no coconut taste whatsoever. This is basically an average brown ale you can get anywhere. Boo!

You can definitely taste the brown sugar, but it isn’t necessarily sweet. You can vaguely taste coconut but only if you search for the flavor. I wish it had more of an coconut flavor but it’s really good.
