A Note on This Beer
The Dark Beer masterminds at Hubbard’s Cave are known for making legendary Imperial Stouts, but they’ve really outdone themselves with today’s batch of Coco Van — it tastes just like a liquid Mounds bar!
Or a fresh-baked coconut bar...or a chocolate-covered macaroon...or any decadent dessert that involves the tropical sweetness of coconut!
It’s bold, flavor-packed brews like this that have earned Hubbard’s some serious Dark Beer cred. They out-rank many of the biggest names in the biz, earning a higher UT-brewery rating than Three Floyds, Odell, and Anchorage!
And today’s dessert-in-a-can shows just what this crew can do.
Using two separate additions of toasted coconut flakes in the brewing process, the brewers pack every sip with nutty, caramelized tropical fruit notes — you might even find a few flakes floating around!
Hubbard’s Cave then adds vanilla beans for a scrumptious sweetness, making Coco Van an indulgent dessert-sipper worthy of being on the Great British Baking Show.
Aromas of a freshly-baked coconut cream pie swirl delectably from the black-as-night pour. The dark, sweet malts drench the smooth-sipping body in dark chocolate flavors that complement the coconut. A hint of rich vanilla lingers on the finish of the creamy, heavy mouthfeel while masterfully masking the boozy 12% ABV.
All of this dessert talk has me thinking — why bake dessert when you can drink it?
Bring a few of these cans to your next dinner party and watch as your friends flock around you like kids to a candy bar!
