A Note on This Beer
When I first heard about today’s Deinos Keynos, I got a little confused. This brew comes from Jester King — the legendary pioneers of American Wild Ale — but it’s a Hazy Imperial IPA.
In fact, it’s the very first Imperial IPA I’ve ever tried from these Texas craft masters.
After the first sip, I felt all my skepticism melt into its rippling pool of fresh-squeezed OJ and pithy grapefruit flavors. Of course it’s good! It’s from Jester King! Did I really think this crew wasn’t up to an IPA? What was I thinking?!
To make this one, the brewers first used a pile of Amarillo and Citra Hops, then dry hopped with 4.5 lbs per barrel of Galaxy and Idaho 7 Cryo Hops. To really crank up the fruity fun, they used a super juicy Kveik Yeast for deep notes of peach and apricot.
I already think of Jester King as one of the country’s superlative breweries — I’ve honestly never had a JK brew I didn’t like. So, it shouldn’t surprise me that they’re taking over the Hazy game, too!
