About This Beer
Southern Grist started with a triple-mashed Imperial Stout base boiled for an entire 24 hours for a luxuriously fudgy body. They loaded it into a single Bulleit Bourbon barrel to mature for 15 months before they transferred it to a Smoke Wagon bourbon barrel for 15 more months.
Tasting Notes
Without any adjuncts between you and the brew, you'll get every complex nuance of the malts and barrels. Extra thick, fudgy quaffs taste like dark chocolate brownie batter with ribbons of bourbon caramel, espresso, and crème brûlée swirling throughout. A touch of nuttiness on the tail end leads to an oaky vanilla conclusion.
