About This Beer
Whodunnit? The culprit is Alpha Acid, a notorious Bay Area microbrewery. Motivated by the desire to make a bigger version of their original star Stout, they fermented a roasty base to an Imperial 11% ABV. Then they hit it with cacao nibs, along with toasted and raw coconut.
Tasting Notes
Sniffing around the glass, you’ll detect chocolatey, nutty aromas. It would appear that an Almond Joy was on the scene, but don’t be fooled! Each lighter bodied sip is more like taking a bite of an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie flecked with creamy, tropical nuances. Hints of amaretto step out of bittersweet shadows to reveal a refined sweetness before arriving at a dry finish.

the oatmeal is very forward and I’m a big fan of that. but it’s bodied more so like a porter.
