A Note on This Beer
Today, we’re absolutely exhilarated to bring you the latest Saison from Jester King! If you’re familiar with these towering Texans, you know they were one of the first breweries to introduce American craft fans to the elegant flavors of Farmhouse Ales.
Their Dry-Hopped Oat Saison with Desert Yeast is a nuanced beauty of a beer, with a lusciously smooth character to whet your whistle on even the most sweltering days.
To make it, Jester King chose a desert yeast culture called Prickly Pear, known for its bright floral and citrus qualities and harvested near Big Bend National Park. They also gave it a fluffy malted oat base for hints of toasted granola. Generous dry-hopping with Idaho 7, Citra and El Dorado Hops imparts notes of lush mangoes, sweet papayas, juicy melons, and citrus.
Locals are lapping up this luscious brew, calling it a “deliciously fruity saison” with a “creamy texture” and “nice, balanced hoppiness.”
This refreshing beverage is so smooth and sophisticated; you may want to pour it into a flute and pair it with cheese and charcuterie! But however you drink it, don’t hesitate — this desert flower won’t last long.
*The label art featuring the prickly pear flower and west Texas desert was created by Jester King artists Katie Ross and Granger Coats; Jester King was named one of the Top 35 Best Breweries of the Last Decade by both Paste Mag and VinePair!
