A Note on This Beer
I’ll admit it: before today I’d never even heard of a Hodag. Apparently, it’s a legendary dragon-like creature that lurks in the forests of Michigan and Wisconsin.
It’s also a deliciously tropical new IPA from Transient Artisan Ales. I don’t know about you, but given the choice, I’ll take the beer over the beast. Here’s why:
1) Hodag the beer is made with Citra and Sabro Hops, so it overflows with notes of tangy mandarin orange, ripe pineapple, and just a hint of tropical coconut. Hodag the beast is said to spring from ashes, which sounds significantly less delicious.
2) This juicy IPA comes with a 7.5% ABV, which is guaranteed to mellow me right out. Whereas a frog-faced dragon beast like the Hodag doesn’t sound relaxing at all.
3) I can get my hands on the beer! While Transient brews are mighty hard to find outside of a handful of states, I did manage to smuggle out a stash! The Hodag creature has only been seen once, back in 1896. And the guy who caught it eventually admitted it was a hoax.
In short, Hodag the beer is tastier, boozier, and easier to find than its cryptid counterpart. Honestly, wouldn’t you rather kick back with this Hazy IPA than worry about some ferocious monster? I know I would. That’s why Hodag the beer is the only Hodag for me.
