A Note on This Beer

Every time we score more beer from Mikerphone, I get so excited that I want to run down the street screaming the good news to everyone I see.

Unfortunately, yelling at strangers about beer makes them uncomfortable. Even though I’m yelling about a brewery the Chicago Tribune called The Hottest Thing in Chicago Beer!

So, I’ll reserve my unbridled enthusiasm for all of you Stout fans out there! Ready? Here we go:

HOLY STOUTS! WE HAVE IMPERIAL SMELLS LIKE BEAN SPIRIT!!!!

Fans are just as stoked for this coffee and maple syrup-infused sip of deliciousness as I am!

Maple flavor is dominant, and coffee. Sweetness and bitterness are well harmonized .

Stumptown nitro cold brew, the one across from Embassy Suites, near the original Voodoo, Portland, Oregon. Two pumps 3 Musketeers syrup. 3 shakes Nam Pla fish sauce.

I was surprised at how well the maple syrup flavor fit in, and rounded this beer off. It’s a treat, to be sure, especially welcome now as I’m stuck at home surrounded by smoke and stress.

A nice beer but kind of in between. Strong coffee flavor that blends really well with the stout flavor. A very light touch of maple. Some nice bitterness that blends nicely. The problem is that this beer is too sweet for drinking with dinner, but not really sweet enough for dessert. It's good, but it would be better if it were a touch sweeter, maybe more maple.

This is a crazy beer. I loved it. But I can imagine it being polarizing. The nose has massive umami, sweet, and sour to it. So much so that my daughters thought it made the room smell like Soy Sauce when I was drinking it. My wife thought it smelled like an Old Fashioned. The maple syrup is forward on the taste. I’m a total coffee junkie. But honestly I don’t taste the coffee in this. All in all I really enjoyed it.

Coffee is the star. Maple supports as it should. Went well with elk dinner. Was surprised how well this beer is. I'd buy it again for sure
