We wish we could take credit for “discovering” Bozeman, Montana’s Mountains Walking.

But, with the #2 spot on Hop Culture’s 5 Favorite Milkshake IPAs in the country and a Gold medal at the North American Beer awards less than two years after opening — all credit is due to the brewers.

That #2 Milkshake IPA is Opaque Thoughts. Today you have a shot at the latest variant in the series. And, get this: the brewers amped it up with pineapple, peach, and tangerine!

This malt shop rival isn’t just a fruitastic shake thickened by all the toasted rice, oats, vanilla bean, and lactose Mountains walking used. The brewery heightened its flavor by dry-hopping with nearly 7 lbs per barrel of Citra and Amarillo Hops — more than double the average IPA!

Creamy, juicy, and very smooth. Lots of vanilla flavor in addition to a nice balance of fruitiness and hoppiness. Manages to not be overly sweet, and has a bitter, but still creamy and vanilla forward finish.

It’s pretty profound that you not only smell both the IPA and sweet vanilla ice cream, but taste the intricate balanced flavors immediately. The power is tucked in behind all the deliciousness that makes Mountains Walking a rising favorite of mine on Tavour.

Good beer. But to me, this beer might’ve been a case of too many good things competing. I tasted the influences of peach, tangerine, pineapple and vanilla... but maybe the tang of tangerine overwhelmed and wasn’t softened enough by the lactose. On a second take, I’d be tempted to edit that flavor out and leave more room for the hops to shine. But again, still a good beer.

Absolutely one of my favorites, starts with the creamy sweetness, moves to the citrus flavors as it goes down and finishes with a balanced hoppy lipsmacking fruity bitterness.

Big let down for me from the previous Opaque Thoughts(Stawberry/Mango/Coconut) .... it just came out all one note muddy and it was more of this bitter vanilla heaviness than the fruity tropical brightness from the other version. A sad follow-up for me but I love that they're pushing it and keep experimenting.

This stuff taste pretty good. It’s definitely fruity as soon as you take a drink, but I felt that it had a very strong hops aftertaste that lingered on my palate. Not a big fan of that. Overall it was good. Just not my type of drink.

Daily Corona battle. Another day down edition. Holy wow...this pops. Crack it and the citrus aroma punches your nose. In a good way. Super tangerine with some smoothing peach sweetness and vanilla. I dig.
